Communicating with your elected officials is an effective way to influence public policy. Please copy and paste (or edit) the letter below and send it to your U.S. Representative and Senators and let them know that you support wilderness protection.

Dear Senator/Representative_______:

I urge your to support protecting nearly 90,000 acres in Superior National Forest as wilderness. These pine-covered and lake-dotted lands in northern Minnesota are some of the nation's most beautiful and deserving of protection.

Many of the 90,000 acres are adjacent to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW), the only large lakeland wilderness in the National Wilderness Preservation System. With permanent protection, these lands will provide healthy habitat for fish, birds, and other wildlife; places for solitude and recreational activities for hunters, angers, birdwatchers, paddlers, campers, hikers, kayakers, and skiers; and clean water for all. Protecting these wild areas ensures that the natural places we love today will be here for future generations.

While legislation granting such protection to these lands has not been introduced, I urge you to voice support for including these picturesque lands in the National Wilderness Preservation System. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
