Agassa Lake Unit
Approximate Acreage: 2,356
Percent Federal Ownership: 97%
The Agassa Lake Unit is located just south of the Echo Trail and
adjacent to the BWCAW. The unit includes a northern lake and bog
area that provides excellent opportunities for peace, quiet and
solitude.
The area’s primary attraction is 72-acre Agassa Lake, a beautiful
body of water with a backcountry campsite. The Agassa Trail winds
its way from the Angleworm parking area off the Echo Trail, through
a mixed forest of hardwoods, pine, and birch, to the shores of
Agassa Lake.
The Agassa Lake Unit has the potential to create a circular canoe
route that includes Big Lake, Lapond Lake, Big Rice Lake, Hook Lake,
Rice Lake, and Slim Lake by re-constructing a historic portage
between Slim Lake and Big Lake.
