The Brule Mountain Unit is a remote area adjacent to the BWCAW. Brule Mountain, Minnesota’s second-highest peak, is the area’s most significant feature.

The vegetation of Brule Mountain is amazingly diverse, with forests consisting of cedar, spruce, aspen, and birch. Old red and white pines can be found along the high ridges. One small lake, Bulb Lake, lies entirely within the area. Wildlife found in the area includes deer, moose, and bear.
