Echo River Unit

Approximate Acreage: 3,900
Percent Federal Ownership: 84%

The Echo River Unit is adjacent to the BWCAW, approximately two miles southeast of Crane Lake and extending south along the Echo River. The area is popular for hiking and hunting.

The Herriman Lake Trail enters the Echo River Unit off of County Road 424 and offers loops to Herriman Lake, Little Vermilion Lake, and along the Echo River. The river loop is particularly scenic as it follows the meandering path of the Echo River and offers sights of scattered old white pines.

The area contains one 40-acre lake, which is not connected to any other waterways.
