Approximate Acreage: 5,013
Percent Federal Ownership: 100%
The Urho Creek Unit is south of the Echo Trail and southeast of Lake
Jeanette. The area, which is adjacent to the BWCAW, offers scenic
and peaceful hiking opportunities on the Norway Trail, which
traverses the unit.
The unit is part of the Little Indian Sioux watershed, and there are
small lakes and ponds at the beginning of four creeks that flow into
the Little Indian Sioux River in the BWCAW: Marvins, Teds, Urho, and
Spike Horn creeks.
Wildlife found in the area includes deer, moose, and a wide variety
of birds, including pileated woodpeckers.
